As far as dynamics is concerned, no challenge is too great for the BMW X4. Thanks to its especially low centre of gravity, Adaptive M suspension and firm sports steering, it masters every assignment with consistent stability, maximum precision and unique handling.
Adaptive M suspension.
The Adaptive M suspension* can be electronically adjusted at any time to suit the road and driving conditions. The driver can also adjust the suspension characteristics via the Driving Experience Control to enable their preferred driving style at the time – from comfortable to extremely athletic with markedly agile handling. * Only available for the BMW X4 M40i and the BMW X4 M40d.
Variable sport steering.
The Variable sport steering with Servotronic creates a direct and agile steering response and ensures that less physical effort is required to turn the wheel. It reacts to the angle of the steering wheel with varying steering ratios. This improves handling when driving more dynamically and reduces the effort needed to steer when parking and turning.
Low centre of gravity.
The low centre of gravity promotes the vehicle's agility and steering precision, while at the same time ensuring high driving stability with reduced lateral inclination of the body. Thus, the sporty driving dynamics can be savoured intensively.

The BMW X4 presents itself expressively and self-confident – down to the finest detail. Distinctive design elements and high-quality equipment in the exterior and interior underline the sporty appearance and dynamic driving character of the vehicle.

Rear and rear lights.
Athletic perfection: the expressive rear rounds off the overall dynamic impression of the BMW X4. Emphasising the sporting character of the vehicle are the slim rear window and the extremely low-slung roof spoiler. The roof line drops down to the tailgate with its trailing edge that forms the especially dynamic rear end. The rear lights with lighting elements in LED technology consist of individual high-performance LED lighting elements and have the characteristic, striking BMW L-shape, meaning that the vehicle is clearly recognisable as a BMW even in the dark.
Bonnet and double kidney grille.
By virtue of its size and three-dimensional design, the double kidney grille in the centre of the front section visualises power and authority. It protrudes prominently from the bonnet, thus underlining the dynamic driving character. Above the BMW X4 kidney grille, precisely drawn contours lend the bonnet a similarly dynamic appearance.
Adaptive LED headlights and air inlets.
The adaptive LED headlights include low-beam and anti-dazzle high-beam headlights (BMW Selective Beam) and turn indicators with full LED technology. The equipment also features cornering lights, daytime running lights and Adaptive headlights with variable light control for excellent illumination of the road ahead and better visibility in the dark. The external air inlets give the front section an even more dynamic appearance, which is additionally reinforced by a special channel that separates the outer and central inlets from one another graphically. The central air inlet shows the typical trapezium that flares out upwards with a slight hexagonal rendering.
BMW X4 wheel and wheel arche.
The wheel housings with their muscular flared design are a further development of the previous square shape to produce a subtle hexagonal interpretation to underline the offroad character of the BMW X4. Additional eye-catchers are the 21" M light alloy wheels Double-spoke style 718 M in Bicolor Cerium Grey matt, bright turned*. * Only available for the BMW X4 M40i and the BMW X4 M40d.
Air breather.
The air breather behind the front wheel arches underscores the athletic character of the vehicle visually as a decorative element.
Panorama glass roof.
When open, the Panorama glass roof provides a great deal of fresh air. Closed, it creates a bright, light-flooded atmosphere in the interior. It opens and closes completely automatically at the push of a button, or remotely, and is equipped with slide and lift functions, roller sunblind and wind deflector.
Sport seats.
The individually adjustable Sport seats for the driver and front passenger feature numerous manual adjustment options, including backrest width, fore-and-aft position, and the backrest and seat angle. Thanks to taller seat and backrest bolsters, and well-defined side bolsters, they provide excellent ergonomics and a high degree of lateral support.
Instrument panel.
The Instrument panel in Sensatec lends the interior of the vehicle a highly exclusive atmosphere. The artificial leather is applied directly to a semi-rigid foam, and features an impressively soft surface. The wear-resistant material around the door panels on the front and rear features attractive double-lap seams.
Door design.
The door design of the BMW X4 combines robust features typical of the X models, such as the prominent door pull handle with finely finished surfaces and details. These include exquisite chrome-plated elements that frame the instrument panel and continue elegantly over the doors into the rear. The prominently positioned embossed X logo on the door is a reminder of the vehicle’s genetic origins.
Centre console.
The centre console of the BMW X4 follows the ergonomic concept and is optimally oriented towards the driver. In combination with the instrument panel as well as the high bolsters and redesigned knee pads, it enhances the sporty seating comfort. At the same time, it offers perfect support when travelling at the limits. The embossed Galvanik M badge in the centre console testifies to maximum comfort and precision – as well as to the typical M sporting flair.

BMW Live Cockpit Plus.
The BMW Live Cockpit Plus with navigation function includes an instrument panel with a 5.7" instrument cluster, a high-resolution 8.8" touch-enabled Control Display and the iDrive Touch Controller on the centre console. The BMW Operating System 6.0 can also be operated via the iDrive Controller.
BMW Head-Up Display.
The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display projects all information relevant to the journey directly into the driver's field of vision, thereby allowing them to fully concentrate on driving. Information such as the current speed, navigation directions, Speed Limit Info including no-overtaking indicator, along with telephone and entertainment lists are displayed.
Intuitive operating concept.
Operating the Infotainment system is now even easier, clearer and more informative. The driver can control it via the touchscreen, the iDrive Controller, voice control or gesture control, according to their preference. The tiles are now displayed as live tiles on the main menu instead of a static menu view.
Navigate Door to Door.
Arrive on time and relaxed. Navigate Door to Door takes you the final short distance from your car to your destination and back. Receive rapid access to the pedestrian navigation service on your smartphone with the support of information from your Connected Onboard screen and push notifications from the BMW Connected app.
Time to Leave Notification.
Always arrive on time for your next appointment. The ‘time to leave’ notification on the BMW Connected app reminds you in advance when to set off, communicating with your smartphone or smartwatch. Real-time traffic information helps to calculate the optimal departure time to ensure that you reach your destination on time.
WiFi hotspot.
The equipment includes a built-in WiFi hotspot using the LTE standard, which allows for a paid Internet connection. The vehicle is connected via the built-in SIM card with a fee-based hotspot plan from a service provider.
